Additive Manufacturing has evolved fast over the past decades and is now a cutting edge manufacturing technology. Nevertheless, due to global (industrial) challenges and still high manufacturing costs, the community is still facing certain struggles to establish. This presentation will focus on a review of the current state of Metal AM from the Fraunhofer perspective, present and upcoming challenges and will give a glimpse of next feasible developments in the field.
